What is it about Six?

You know what?  I'm not gonna lie.  I reckon the reason I love Six so much is because I'm missing Steps so much!  Now I'm not saying Six are exactly like Steps. They aren't.  They're similar in the fact that they're pop and both have male and female band members.  But that's about it!
Now, how I came to love them.  I heard them on the radio, on Dusty Rhodes on 2fm, and thought they were pretty cool.  I was going to see Westlife and they were supporting them, so I thought "yay!"  They only sang 3 songs, but they were great!  Then they played a free gig in Newry with Bellefire (also love them!), which is only a train journey away from here, so I though "why not?"  That was a really great day!  The weather was excellent, and Six were amazing!  I was hooked!
Then came the greatest weekend ever... I went to an autograph signing on the Friday, went to their concert in Belfast on the Saturday and then to O2 in the Park in Dublin on the Sunday (yep, they were there!)  It will be remembered forever more as "The Weekend of Six" by me and my mum!
I've also seen them at Smash Hits in Dublin and in Belfast on St Patrick's day!  I love them!

Still wanna know more?  Here's some background info!

Six were put together via the TV show format Popstars.

The TV show started auditions in 4 venues - Galway, Cork, Belfast & Dublin - last September. From the 5,000 auditionees it was whittled down to 32 finalists who went for 1 intensive weeks auditioning to a secret location in the West of Ireland - Portumna. By the end of the week they were down to 12 people.
These 12 had then 2 weeks wait to hear if they got the band! The initial band didn't feature Sarah Keating. The 6th popstar at that stage was Derry girl Nadine Coyle but after 24 hours in their secret house it was discovered that she was only 16 years old. The Popstars TV format has a rule that all entrants must be 18 or over. She had to leave after only 24 hours in the house. She was immediately replaced by Galway girl Sarah Keating. Sarah had been rejected and could not believe when she got the call to come to Dublin and be the 6th Popstar!!

They lived in a secret house in south county Dublin from the end of November 2001 to the middle of January 2002. They were revealed mid January to the public. From the evening they were revealed they have been the most photographed and sought after people in Ireland!!!
Their debut single "There's a Whole lot of Loving Going On" was recorded with legendary Pete Waterman in London. It was released on February 8th with the biggest ever ship out of a single for BMG Ireland! In one day the repeat orders were double what we had shipped out! In the first week of release it debuted at Number 1 in our Singles Sales Charts and broke the following Irish chart records:

* Fastest ever selling single in Ireland
* Biggest selling week one sales of any artist - non charity
* Biggest selling week one sales of any Irish artist
* Biggest selling single of 2002 so far
* It sold more in 1 week than the entire Top 10 put together!

The single has now been Number 1 in Ireland for 4 weeks and it's now 6 times Platinum!!!
