13/3/02 Belfast Giants end-of-season autograph signing
After the final home game of the season, the Giants had an autograph signing!! We knew about it beforehand, so we came prepared, me and my shirt and my season programme. BUT before that, we were sitting, enjoying the game (sort of, we were losing!) when my mum says "There's that comedian guy, Sean something", it was Sean Hughes from Never Mind the Buzzcocks. Then a few minutes later she says "AAAGGGHHH! Look who else is here! It's - " and I looked over and saw - - it was the wonderful, gorgeous, fantastic Dermot O'Leary, the guy who used to present T4! We are huge fans, my mum waved at him to come over and he did. He looked right at me and said "Hi there love, how you doing, you all right?" All I said was "hi, yeah, yeah" I was just about to get an autograph when he got called to help with a game on the ice. By this time, there were loads of girls over to see him. When he finished on the ice, he tried to come over to us, but he kept getting called away. Finally he got over, I got his autograph and a few pics, and he looked at me and winked!!! I was sooooooo happy! :)
Then, when the third period was about half over, we went to start lining up for the Giants signing. We were lucky we went when we did - 5 minutes later the queue was twice as long. We weren't at the front, but we were quite close. We met all the players and their coach. They were all really nice, but the highlights for me were
(1) Me telling Todd Kelman how much I love his interview in the programme and Colin Ward replying "Mine's better!"
(2) Jason Bowen signing my shirt, my mum asking me if I can read it, and he spelled it out pointing at the letters and saying the wrong ones!
(3) Sean Berens signing the picture of me and him when I met him at Tescos, and my mum reminding him of the "Siobhan spelling" incident! Something he would rather forget I think!
(4) Paxton Schulte holding the baby of the group in front of us, very cute (and so was the baby!)
(5) Getting my picture taken with Paxton, and afterwards he said "You know, I'm not gonna hurt you, you don't need to stand so far away" and I replied "Are you sure, cause I've seen you on the ice!" and he said back "No, that's just on the ice"
(6) Curtis Bowen - enough said, he was a highlight for me on his own! lol
(7) Everything, everybody, they were all really nice guys, I'd love to meet them again and I probably will! There was just one slight, teensy weensy problem; we missed our train and had to get a taxi home from Belfast!!! In my opinion, it was worth it though. Then again, I wasn't the one paying for it! ;)
